The building was constructed in 1912 by the National Carbon Company, and later became a paper warehouse for Blake, Moffitt, and Towner. It went through a major exterior and interior renovation when it was converted into the gift and jewelry showrooms in 1983. The renovation added more usable space and light with the addition of a glass atrium.
